Spike Hill is a Williamsburg bar a hop and a skip away from the Bedford stop of the L train. It boasts a pretty attractive bar menu, offering standard fare like burgers, sandwiches & wings, in addition to seasonal salads, pot pies, ribs and steak. Most entrees are priced around $10. The bar itself is a draw, especially for beer and bourbon drinkers (they boast over 100 kinds of whiskey and scotch, and offer tasting flights for the adventurous). Their performance space, opened in 2008, offers a pretty respectable sound system and backline for its intimate size. It’s a pretty relaxed atmosphere, and we’d recommend you come early for dinner—we’re told that if you have dinner before a show and remember to tip the bartender, there’s a high chance they won’t make you pay the cover to see the show.
