The sprawling Webster Hall features some of the most diverse booking around in the New York City live music scene. There will be a subdued crowd watching a breaking indie-pop band in the 1,500 capacity Grand Ballroom one night, and club kids with glowsticks dancing their asses off the next night. In addition to the Grand Ballroom, Webster Hall boasts four additional music-spaces, with capacity varying from the 150-strong Greenroom to the Marlin Room, which can hold 500 and is typically the first stop on club nights. Its always smart to buy tickets in advance here, as you will usually save $10. The venue is 19+, and don’t count on drinking if you’re underage. Their bouncers won’t hesitate to turn around anyone who looks too drunk, anyway, which is probably a smart strategy given the crowds they draw for their club nights. A New York City institution for over one hundred years, it’s nearly impossible to enjoy live music in this city without hitting this establishment at least once.
